What ingredients are needed to make this slider recipe?

You need just 3 main ingredients plus a 5-ingredient homemade, seasoned buttery sauce that tops these roll so that they bake to a delicious crisp.

Here&rsquos everything you&rsquoll need: savory Hawaiian rolls, black forest ham, Havarti cheese, butter, poppy seeds, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard.

The secret is in the sauce.

The secret sauce though is what will make you want to eat the entire tray of these delectable little ham and cheese sandwiches. The sauce is just three ingredients mixed together with a little melted butter and it will rock your world.

Want to know what they are? Oh, alright. I&rsquoll tell you. 😉 Worcestershire sauce, onions and Dijon mustard. That&rsquos IT. Together these friendly condiments are a happy family of tastiness.

Watch how easy it is to make these sliders.

Here&rsquos how to make these ham and cheese sliders, step by step. It&rsquos simple, really!

Which Hawaiian rolls are best to use with this recipe?

When you go to the store you&rsquoll notice two flavors of Hawaiian rolls &mdash savory butter and original sweet. I&rsquove tried using both to make these ham and cheese sliders. Both are good!

However, I personally like the savory butter flavor a little better. The original sweet rolls along with the sweetness of the ham can be just a little too much sweetness for me.

However, try them both and see what you like best! I always say, there&rsquos no right or wrong way to do things. So take time to experiment and see what you and your family like best.

Can these ham and Havarti cheese sliders be made ahead?

Aside from being undeniably delicious, these adorable sliders are also really easy to make. Yes, you can prep them ahead of time then bake them right before you&rsquore ready to eat. They make and excellent brunch for a small crowd or to bring them to a friends house as a snack.

Tips for making these ham and cheese sliders, perfectly on the first try:

&bull Don&rsquot separate your rolls. Cut them in half as a big block. It&rsquos much easier and will save you time!

&bull Fold ham slices in quarters to add texture to your bite:

&bull Make sure to cover these with foil before you put them in the oven to back and then carefully uncover them for just the last 3-5 minutes to lightly brown and crisp them. Less time for less crispy and brown, more time for more crispy and brown.

Like my baking dish?

Did you notice my cute, glass baking dish? I just love this dish! It&rsquos one of my favorite Pioneer Woman pieces. Yes, I have multiple pieces of her collection. I opened the flood gate and I&rsquom really having to refrain from purchasing ALL of the Pioneer Woman&rsquos cookware. Gah!

This casserole dish specifically is my favorite because it&rsquos a little smaller than a typical baking dish and it has really pretty glass bead work on the outside. I use it a lot for breakfast casseroles and sheet cakes and of course these slides.

Also, a package of Hawaiian rolls fits perfectly. 😉

Summer is here, and your grill is raring to go. The only question is how fast you need to get food on the table. Our new recipes suit any speed, whether you've got seriously hungry folks on your hands and just a short amount of time in which to cook, or if you have plenty of time to tuck into a book while slow-cooking something delicious for dinner later&mdashmaybe even much later. Pick a lane, and rest assured: Where there's a grill, there's a way.

If you're in a rush to eat, or those you're feeding are, our fiery and fast recipes are just the meal ticket you need. Not sure what to make? How about our latest turkey burger that's on the table in 45 minutes? The mild meat is amped up with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil and then we indulge in the Polynesian pairing of grilled pineapple and meat, an '80s trend we're totally stoked to welcome back. For a fast and easy vegetarian option that makes grilled vegetables new again, use store-bought flatbread as the base. Top with grilled vegetables and an unexpected but fabulous mix of blue cheese and mozzarella. Then, pour over a mustard vinaigrette rather than the putting the usual marinara sauce or pesto under the toppings. The result? Grilled Vegetable Pizzas that are sure to become a favorite. Another rapid fire option is grilled porterhouse steak. We're not saying it's an any night dinner, but we are saying this riff on the classic bistecca alla Fiorentina takes just 30 minutes to make.

For those days when you have more time, go low and slow with the grilling thanks to recipes like the Tandoori-Spiced Grilled Chicken, pictured here. We're not talking lots of hands-on cooking time, but rather more overall cooking time needed. The chicken halves sit in a spiced yogurt marinade that tenderizes without turning the meat mushy, so you can slather it on well in advance and let the refrigerator do its work. The actual cooking takes about an hour. You'll need more time for Lamb Shoulder Barboca, time for it to marinate and then to cook gently over indirect heat to make a smoky chile-lamb filling for tacos.

Whether you go speedy or sauntering on your way to a grilled dinner, these recipes will get you out of the kitchen in delicious fashion.

Mushroom Swiss Slider Recipe

These little handheld sandwiches are perfect for my family. With simple ingredients, You can make them from scratch in just about 30 minutes. I broke this recipe into three sections, the hamburger, the cheese sauce, and the buttered seasoned buns. It seems like a lot of ingredients but it really is very simple.

For the Hamburger

  • Ground Beef: I like to go with 80/20, but you could use a leaner version if you prefer.
  • Seasonings: Worchestershire, Lawrys, Salt, Pepper, and McCormick Hamburger Seasoning round out the seasonings for this recipe. If you don’t have hamburger seasoning, you could mix together onion powder (or toasted onion flakes), black pepper, chili pepper, sugar, and garlic for a similar effect.
  • Yellow Onion: You could use Red onion too if you wanted, but I like the sweet flavor of the yellow onion.
  • Garlic: I like to use fresh garlic, but feel free to use the garlic powder too if you are out.
  • Oil: When cooking burgers, we tend to favor canola oil, but you could also use butter or olive oil.

For the Cheese Sauce

  • Butter
  • Mushrooms
  • Beef Broth
  • Milk
  • Swiss Cheese
  • Salt and Pepper

For the Sliders:

  • Kings Hawaiian Rolls – We like to use the Kings Hawaiin Rolls for the bun portion of the recipe. They are perfectly sweet, but not too sweet that they pair nicely with the seasoned butter on the outside. Or, you can make your own homemade Hawaiian Rolls !
  • Butter Mixture: This is what really takes the whole recipe over the top. To make the butter mixture, you will need garlic salt, salt, pepper, and sesame seeds
  • Swiss Cheese Slices: I know there are not a ton of options in this area, but since we are going to add two separate layers of cheese, we tend to go for the square, thinner version of the swiss cheese slices. If you want these extra cheesy, you could use the thick cut version as well.

Ham and Cheese Sliders

I’ve shared several slider recipes over the years, but the ones we tend to make the most frequently are these Ham and Cheese Sliders or these French Dip Sliders. So it’s definitely about time I shared this recipe with you all!
